Dear Members of the Committee,<\/p>\n

ADC Memorial calls you to include the following measures on elimination of discrimination of women to your recommendations to the Russian Government:<\/p>\n

= stop attempts to restrict a woman\u2019s right to control over family planning, stop any form of state support of the traditional views on women as only an instrument of reproduction who can\u2019t independently decide about pregnancy and giving birth. Promote education in sexual sphere and spread information on safe methods of contraception.<\/p>\n

= stop discrimination of women in sphere of labor, revoke \u201cthe list of prohibited occupations\u201d that declares care of potential mothers and doesn\u2019t take into account the possibility and the wish of women to have children.<\/p>\n

= adopt the law on state guarantees of equal rights for men and women; adopt the specific law criminalizing domestic violence; as well as comprehensive state program aimed at eradicating violence against women.<\/p>\n

= protect discriminated women and girls belonging to traditional communities (Roma, migrants, peoples of North Caucasus), guarantee their right to education, self-expression, free choice of a partner, way of life, dress code and behavior. Stop practice of segregation of Roma children at schools. Stop any form of state support and approval of patriarchal views and harmful practices (polygamy, violent and early marriages, extrajudicial killings of women who violated \u201ctraditional morals\u201d).<\/p>\n

= adopt a law clearly prohibiting detention of pregnant women and women with children under the age of 14 in the deportation centers for foreigners; stop separation of children from parents in case of such detention and deportation of children separately from their parents.<\/p>\n

= end political persecution of women \u2013 activists of democratic movements, LGBTI-groups and human rights defenders. Abolish the law on \u201cNGOs \u2013 foreign agents\u201d, the law on \u00abundesirable organizations\u201d, the law on \u201cpropaganda of homosexualism\u201d. Create the conditions for NGOs to conduct their activities freely and safely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
