Evgenia Markova fought for her right to work in Russia as a truck driver for a long time, and achieved her goal despite the law banning this profession as \u201chazardous for women\u201d. In the video clip<\/a> (made specially for ADC Memorial campaign) Markova tells how passionately she wanted to be a lorry driver, how persistently she pursued this job, how she was outraged with the discrimination \u201cby birth\u201d, with the injustice of the prohibition for women to work.<\/p>\n

The case of Evgenia shows that there is no jobs \u201cnot for women\u201d; a woman (by the way, a successful intellectual having two diplomas, an IT-specialist in high demand, a happy wife) can prefer the very job that the state considers necessary to \u201cprotect\u201d her from.<\/p>\n
