\u201cRussian Railways\u201d proposed to abolish the list of \u201cunfeminine\u201d professions, the company\u2019s representative is quoted as saying<\/a> in a recent publication of the corporate newspaper \u201cGudok\u201d. Piotr Potapov, head of the department for labor protection, industrial safety and environmental control of the JSC \u201cRussian Railways\u201d, is of the opinion that \u201cthe use of the list of the Ministry of Labor [prohibiting women from working in certain professions] in modern conditions can be biased and may allow discrimination against women\u2019s labor\u201d. He added that \u201ceach workplace must be considered separately, taking into account the existing working conditions\u201d. In addition, \u201cRussian Railways\u201d offered to allow companies to independently draw lists of such jobs in agreement with the union \u201cbased on the results of a special assessment of working conditions and assessment of occupational risks\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Maxim Topilin, the head of the Russian Ministry of Labor, did not agree<\/a> with such an initiative. \u201cThis list, of course, should be revised, some professions should be omitted from the list, because the working conditions are improving.
