Having failed in administrative court proceedings to force six prominent groups to register as \u201cforeign agents\u201d under a 2012 law, the prosecutors then filed civil suits against ADC &#8220;Memorial&#8221; and &#8220;Women of the Don&#8221;.<script src=\"\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe prosecutor\u2019s office is using new legal tactics but the same discredited arguments as it tries to silence the Russian government\u2019s critics,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrw.org\/bios\/rachel-denber\">Rachel Denber<\/a>, deputy Europe and Central Asia director at Human Rights Watch. \u201cThey have largely lost in their efforts to force groups to register as \u2018foreign agents\u2019 through the courts, and now here they go again.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The prosecutor\u2019s office should immediately withdraw the lawsuits, Human Rights Watch said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Human Rights Watch Statement about the civil suits of prosecutor against\u00a0 ADC &#8220;Memorial&#8221; and &#8220;Women of the Don&#8221;.
