The<\/span> analytical<\/span> materials<\/span> were<\/span> submitted<\/span> to the<\/span> UN<\/span> Expert<\/span> Mechanism<\/span> on<\/span> the Rights<\/span> of Indigenous<\/span> Peoples<\/span> for<\/span> its future<\/span> consolidated<\/span> reports<\/span> :<\/span> \u201cIndigenous Peoples right to data, including data collection and disaggregation\u201d and \u201cThe right of Indigenous Peoples to their traditional economies\u201d.<\/span> <\/a><\/p>\n

The experts emphasize<\/span> that<\/span> ensuring<\/span> the rights<\/span> of Indigenous<\/span> peoples<\/span> to the<\/span> traditional<\/span> economy<\/span> is<\/span> impossible without<\/span> the development<\/span> of independent<\/span> institutions<\/span> of self<\/span>-government and<\/span> full-fledged<\/span>,<\/span> rather<\/span> than<\/span> formal<\/span>\/<\/span>fake<\/span> participation<\/span> of Indigenous<\/span> communities<\/span> in<\/span> decision<\/span>\u2013making<\/span>.<\/span> In order<\/span> to implement<\/span> the principle<\/span> of<\/span> free<\/span>,<\/span> prior<\/span> and<\/span> informed<\/span> consent<\/span>, it is necessary<\/span> to fully<\/span> inform<\/span> Indigenous<\/span> communities<\/span> about<\/span> the plans<\/span> of mining<\/span> companies<\/span> to<\/span> use<\/span> traditional<\/span> territories<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
