The elderly Romani woman Nina (shown holding her grandson Arseny) was joined in her frontline town of Toretsk by her daughter and three grandchildren, who were fleeing fighting in the devastated town of Horlivka. Although she actually lived in Horlivka, Nina’s daughter was officially registered in Dzerzhynsk (now Toretsk), which made her and her children ineligible for aid received by those forced to escape the fighting. Nina and her other daughters have severe health problems and the family has a hard time getting them the care they need.
