Press-conference “The Arkhangelsk affair: on the eve of the verdict” takes place

ADC “Memorial,” SRC “Memorial,” International Society “Memorial” held a press-conference “The Arkhangelsk Affair: On the Eve of the Verdict.” The main topic of the conference was the criminal proceedings against the authors, who created the database for a book in memory of German deportees in Arkhangelsk in 1930s -1950s. The proceedings were initiated on November 13th, 2009. Since October 3rd, 2011 the case is being heard in the Oktyabrsky district court of Arkhangelsk (by judge Svetlana Palamodova). On November 16-18th, 2011 the last hearing and presentations of the case took place. At the court hearing on December 5th, 2011, one of the defendants will say his last words.

Aleksandr V. Dudarev, retired colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), former director of the Informational Centre at the Department of Internal Affairs (UVD) in the Arkhangelsk region

Mikhail N. Suprun, historian, professor at the Pomorsk State University, chair of the Russian history department

Ivan Yu. Pavlov, attorney of M.N. Suprun, head of the Institute for Informational Freedom Development
