UN CERD reviews Georgia’s compliance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at its 108th session in Geneva is considering the periodical state report of Georgia. The experts paid great attention to the information provided by civil society.

Alternative reports are devoted to the situation of ethnic minorities, primarily the most numerous Azerbaijani. The coalition report raises an essential issue of the rights of Ahiska Turks (Meskhetian Turks), which has not been resolved for decades. The report of the ADC Memorial, prepared on the basis of the results of the field research, is devoted to the situation of the Roma groups in Georgia.

The Committee’s concluding observations with recommendations will be published at the end of the session.
