ADC “Memorial” participates in CERD consultations

On November 23, 2016 the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) holds its consultations with representatives of civil society.

The Committee seeks to get a clearer picture of the challenges and problems faced by non-governmental organizations that defend the rights of ethnic minorities and fight against racial discrimination. Close cooperation between CERD and civil society, access of human rights defenders, who often face state repression, to the instruments and procedures provided by the UN are indispensable for protection of the rights and interests of vulnerable groups, which often are not able to do it on their own.
