The Roma families that have fled the fighting have had to overcome innumerable obstacles to keep their children in school. Irina and her daughter Natasha, who lived in Luhansk Oblast’s Lutuhyne District before the war, have been forced to move from place to place before finally being able to settle down. Natasha finished first grade in Malomikolaivka, second grade in Sumi, and is now in third grade in Toretsk (formerly Dzerzhynsk).
