ADC Memorial is a human rights NGO working on overcoming discrimination. Both in its strategy work and in daily activities and management ADC Memorial recognizes principles of human rights, non-discrimination, gender equality, freedom of association, freedom of conscience and religion, diversity and individuality of people, justice, transparency, environmental care, security of all colleagues and partners.
The Code of Ethics is obligatory to all ADC Memorial staff and team members as well as members of the Organization, General Assembly and Council, consultants working on the regular basis, interns and volunteers.
In its strategic work and daily operations ADC Memorial states zero tolerance to racism, xenophobia, homophobia, anti-semitism, anti-gypsism, sexism, and any other theories and practices based on hatred and inequality.
ADC Memorial has established high standards of business communication of staff members and all people involved into its work, including beneficiaries. Politeness, respect, friendly behavior, confidentiality are basic principles of oral and written communication and business behavior.
Any forms of harassment are strictly forbidden: verbal (rude wording, aggressive verbal behavior); physical (unpleasant touch, violation of personal space); psychological (bulling, improper use of power over subordinates).
Any forms of sexual harassment are absolutely unacceptable and should be recognized and persecuted accordingly. This includes zero tolerance to any abuse of power in sexual relationships among colleagues including partners and beneficiaries, especially in case of any form of dependency / superiority. According to ILO Convention No 190 (2019) and Recommendation No 206 sexual harassment is any form of unwanted verbal, non-verbal or physical behaviour of a sexual nature of which the purpose or effect is to negatively affect a person’s dignity or to create an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive atmosphere. It includes situations where a person is asked to engage in sexual activity as a condition of that person’s employment, as well as situations which create an environment which is hostile, intimidating or humiliating for the victim. Sexual harassment can involve one or more incidents, and anyone could be a victim of sexual harassment, regardless of their sex and of the sex of the harasser.
Sexual relationships strongly affecting working process between ADC Memorial team members are not encouraged.
The guiding principles and procedures regarding children are regulated by ADC Memorial Child Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
Taking into account the risks related to human rights work in the region concerned, an important priority of ADC Memorial is avoiding damage towards staff members, partners and beneficiaries of ADC Memorial. All information related to the work of the Organization, both essential and operational, is confidential. Security of people who provide information to ADC Memorial and cooperate with the Organization must be respected, including anonymity, if the people don’t want to be named in reports, statements and other materials published by ADC Memorial.
Implementation of the ethical principles
All representatives of ADC Memorial shall uphold high reputation of the Organization at any level and are responsible for the implementation of the Principles. Any actions that could damage it – misconduct, dishonest behavior, corruption, violation of confidentiality have to be investigated and considered by the organization management. The principles of mutual trust are very important; broken trust situations might be investigated within complaint procedure.
Signing an employment contract or agreement on other forms of cooperation with ADC Memorial, a person undertakes to respect ethic principles mentioned above and to behave according to them. The management is responsible for informing all the applicable persons about the ethical principles of ADC Memorial.
Monitoring and evaluation
The management of the Organization monitors the implementation of this Principles, and in case of any violations could initiative the complaint procedure on own initiative.
