DOXA: Azerbaijan cancelled the list of professions prohibited for women

In Azerbaijan, the Decree (dated 20 October 1999) of the Cabinet of Ministers on prohibited professions for people with a female gender marker in their documents was canceled. According to the Decree of 31 May 2023, the list of prohibited professions will continue to apply to pregnant women and women with children under one year of age.

In 2017, Moldova and Ukraine abolished the lists as part of the #AllJobs4AllWomen campaign of the Anti-Discrimination Centre “Memorial”.

In 2019, as part of the same campaign, human rights activists achieved the cancellation of bans in Uzbekistan, and in 2021 – in Kazakhstan.
